SimFRA v.1 – Specifications

A waypoint contains information about its location in a 3D space: x {x ∈R | 0 <= x <= 110}, y {y ∈ R | 0 <= y <= 110} and altitude.

Aircraft moves in the 3D space. It contains information about its current position and has a flight plan. It moves with velocity 1 unit/simulation second, where unit is the length of the side of a single grid square; simulation second = 1 second or 0.5 second, depending on the current simulation settings. Upon initialization, its position equals the position of the first waypoint from the flight plan. Aircraft reaches waypoint once it is within radius R<=2 from this waypoint – aircraft’s position is then snapped to the waypoint’s position. A flying aircraft moves in the direction of the next waypoint.

A flight plan optimizer can optimize a flight plan. It always works on copies of submitted flight plans and needs the indication which waypoint from the submitted flight plan is the aircraft’s current next waypoint.
